Akino sits on Broadway in Elmhurst as a focused spot for Japanese food lovers, especially those drawn to sushi and all-you-can-eat offerings. This restaurant leans into the casual dining experience with a particular emphasis on sushi rolls, sashimi, and donburi bowls, making it a solid choice for both solo lunches and relaxed group dinners.

The atmosphere is straightforward and functional, with some variation depending on where you sit—larger tables can feel a bit tight, so this spot works best for diners who prioritize the food over sprawling space. The place gets busy, especially around lunch and early dinner hours, so booking ahead is advisable if you want to avoid the wait. Parking in this Elmhurst neighborhood is limited, so many locals opt for street parking a few blocks away despite the inconvenience on exit.

Akino’s all-you-can-eat model appeals particularly to those who appreciate variety and volume without sacrificing quality. The menu offers a range from classic rolls like California and Salmon Skin Roll to standouts like the Akino Roll and Salmon Dragon Ball, along with options like shrimp tempura and eel fried rice that round out the meal. The sushi here is fresh without being overly elaborate, striking a balance that suits everyday dining rather than special-occasion splurges.

The staff is approachable and helpful, making it easy to navigate the menu even if you’re not deeply familiar with Japanese cuisine. The BYOB policy with a corkage fee adds some flexibility for those who want to pair their meal with personal beverage choices. Cleanliness is noted, including well-kept restrooms, which adds to the comfortable, no-fuss environment.

For locals or visitors wanting a straightforward sushi lunch or casual dinner with a broad sushi selection, Akino delivers a reliable experience. It’s a place where you can settle in for a thoughtful spread of flavors without needing to lean into high-end ambiance or intricate plating. Best to visit during weekday lunch hours or early evenings if you want a quieter vibe, and definitely consider going with friends—sharing multiple rolls and dishes plays to the strengths of the all-you-can-eat approach here.

Depending on where you sit will change your mind for the atmosphere but everything here is great for the price. Recommend on making a reservation as it gets super busy. They have monthly special so definitely take advantage of that. Parking is a little difficult so recommend on parking on the street few blocks down. If you do find parking, that is great but getting out is difficult.

When I walked in and saw it was all you can eat, I was a bit worried since it’s very hard to find places with this model that are actually delicious. But this place truly exceeded my expectations. The mango salmon sushi was spectacular, the edamame was delicious, the Akino sushi was amazing, and the gyozas were great. The salmon and tuna sashimi were outstanding, and the yellowtail sashimi was simply incredible. The service was very good, the person who took care of us had only been working there for 2 days, but honestly did an excellent job. Definitely a place I recommend and one I will gladly come back to.

Really nice place - the food was delicious and staff were super friendly. I came with my husband and we tried a little of everything. Highlights were the yellowtail jalapeño, the salmon dragon ball and the specialty rolls. I wish we lived closer so we could come all the time!! The hostess was super sweet, and our waiter explained everything to us. They’ll also give you ice cream if you follow their insta page. Highly recommend!

Food, service, drinks were all perfect. I recommend all the specialty rolls, I’d go back and Only eat that for the most part. It’s BYOB with a cork fee depending on the type of alcohol. The only thing that bothered me were how small the tables were. Other than that, I recommend!

With regular and holiday pricing, absolutely not worth spending $60 per person (with tip) because you get full way faster than you realize and don’t get your moneys worth! But lunching pricing? $28 for that much good sushi? I’ve been going back extra early just to get that lunch menu. The fish are so fresh, everything just melts in your mouth. Everything is flavorful and I just wish I could keep ordering if only my stomach would allow it. I don’t think there was a single bad menu item. Even if I didn’t like the flavor, it was never because of their culinary skills but my personal taste. You can tell everything is made professionally. The place is much smaller than the Flushing location however, with a lot of workers running around and kind of hovering over you, but if that doesn’t bother you, go! Best AYCE sushi (during lunch!)

final night in new york and found this decent looking all you can eat sushi spot near the airbnb, very surprised by how good this all was. $42 per person (or $44 on friday, saturday and sunday) is an absolute steal considering this sushi is actually pretty good. the nigiri and classic rolls are small but the fish is very fresh and you can keep ordering them so not a problem. the red snapper jalepeno dish had a lovely dressing and worked really well together. the 'kitchen' dises we tried were all solid - the wings were great and probably the highlight of the hot food, the takoyaki wasnt the best though. tried a selection of the cooked and raw signature rolls and they were all excellent too.
